- Scope and ContentA folder containing marked course work on Applied Thermodynamics, produced by Leonard Landon Goodman and certified on 26 June 1947 by W K Rooney. The folder includes notes, experiments and diagrams covering different types of combustion engines, tests and turbines. The first experiment in the folder concerns checking the valve setting in a National (horizontal type) gas engine working on the Otto cycle. This is a similar engine to the National engine in the Science and Industry Museum's collection.

- Physical descriptionGood condition. The cover has some wear with small tears around the edges. The metal parts of the fastenings are corroding and have stained the first page of the notebook where the corroding metal has been in contact with the paper. The pages inside the book are in a very good condition and the text and drawings are fully legible. Note that the ink from the handwritten notes and drawings are vulnerable to light damage if on display.
