Alderslade, Esther Biography Biography
Esther Hackworth was born on 25 January 1888, she was the daughter of Albert Hackworth and Esther Ann Hackworth, (nee Williams), granddaughter of John Wesley Hackworth and therefore the great granddaughter of Timothy Hackworth. In 1928 she married Norman Alderslade, who was born in 1889 and died in 1968. They had no children. She died in 1973.

Outlines the importance of Timothy Hackworth's "Royal George" locomotive, his blast pipe, the extension of the Stockton & Darlington Railway to Middlesborough and Hackworth's staithes. Also covers the history of the locomotive taken by his son, John Wesley Hackworth, and delievered to the Tsar in 1836, and his personal family life.
