Albert Hackworth was born on 21 July 1853. He was the son of John Wesley Hackworth and Ann Hackworth (nee Turner). He married Esther Ann Williams on 1 March 1885 and they had one son (also called Albert) and three daughters. He appears to have worked alongside his father as some of John Wesley Hackworth’s patents feature his name, he was also a marine engineer in his own right. He died in 1904.

Esther Ann Williams was born in 1862. She married Albert Hackworth on 1 March 1885 and they had one son (also called Albert) and three daughters. She died in 1917.

Scope and Content
The series contains evidence that Albert Hackworth was involved to some extent in the campaign for recognition for his grandfather Timothy Hackworth, including a letter of encouragement from his father John Wesley Hackworth and a newspaper article written by him. There are also letters discussing family matters including one from his aunt Prudence Nightingale (nee Hackworth) on his marriage to Esther Ann Hackworth (nee Williams). There is also a letter to Esther Ann Hackworth (nee Williams) from their son Albert Hackworth who was working in America and has a share in ‘Worth Engineering’ named after ‘Hackworth’.
