B & F Carter & Co Limited is an engineering firm established in Bolton in 1919. In 1961 the company was described as 'General engineers, manufacturing braiding, electric cable, wire rope making machinery, industrial counting instruments and power transmission equipment.' At this stage the company had 250 employees. B & F Carter became a public company in 1936. By December 1966 the business was part of the B.I.C.C. Group. It became a private limited company in 1992, and was given the Company number 02760511. The company ceased trading in 2002.
