    2.2 inch by 1.11 inch photographic print (original), sepia, photographic paper. The condition is fair.
  • Archival history
    In 1903, based in his garage on Cooke Street, Hulme, Manchester, Henry Royce purchased a French Decauville motor car, and dismantled it with the aim of learning from it and making improvements. Ernest Mills, shown in this photograph, assisted Royce in dismantling and improving the Decauville. The photograph was kept by Ernest Mills and passed down to his daughter and then grandson.
