QUIT Biography Biography
Established in 1926 as the National Society of Non Smokers, the group became known as QUIT following attainment of charitable status in 1983. Throughout its existence, the group engaged in a range of campaigns against smoking, and provided guidance and support for people wishing to stop smoking. The group dissolved in 2018.

Scope and Content
A folder containing material relating to the organisation of the National Society of Non Smokers' National Don't Smoke Day, also known as National No-Smoking Day. It contains material from the Barnsley Community Health Council relating to their activities planned for the 1980 day as well as other material relating to its organisation in 1978. Also included is correspondence between T.W. Hurst and various organisations on various subjects including smoking bans and speaking engagements.
