The Airship Guarantee Co Ltd was created with the sole purpose of building the R100 airship. It was a subsidary of Vickers. Its Managing Director was Commander Sir Dennistoun Burney and the design team was led by Barnes Wallis.

Booklet entitled 'Airship R100 - Designed and constructed by the Airship Guarantee Company Ltd., Howden Yorkshire'. The forward states "Since airships are not familair objects, as are aeroplanes, Viscount Curzon suggested that a few notes might beprepared to explain airships in general and the R100 in particular"
