Comprises a range of different documents, including: - A copy of an oath made by Barnes Wallis’ father Charles confirming his son's date and place of birth, sworn on 19 August 1904 -The Article of Apprenticeship apprenticing Barnes Neville Wallace to John Samuel White & Company Ltd. as a Fitter (Marine Engine), commencing 28 October 1907 and to be completed 2 January 1910 - Employment references, including one from J Samuel White & Company dated 22 August 1913 and one from University Tutorial College dated 6 September 1922 - A letter written by H B Pratt of Vickers Limited and addressed to the Commanding Officer of the London Division of the RNVR, stating that Wallis is “at present engaged on very urgent and important Admiralty work” and so is unable to join the Corps - Form C for the transfer to the class of members of the institution of Civil Engineers - Barnes Wallis’ will made whilst at Airship Station Howden on 15 December 1929, which specifically references the first trial flight of the R100 airship - Various correspondence between Barnes Wallis and Vickers regarding Wallis’ terms of employment, salary and bonuses - Wallis’ contract of employment as Chief Designer (Structures) at Vickers (Aviation) Ltd., dated 1 May 1930 and subsequent revisions dated 26 June 1934 and 27 February 1939 - Barnes Wallis’ sight test dated 17 January 1935 - A letter from the Royal Aeronautical Society awarding Barnes Wallis the Silver Medal for his work on Geodetic Construction, dated 24 April 1936 - A letter from Vickers appointing Barnes Wallis a Special Director of the Company, dated 18 May 1936 - A letter from Barnes Wallis’ father dated 4 February 1939, in which his father thanks Wallis for his care and devotion - Barnes Wallis’ application form for Associate Fellowship of the Royal Aeronautical Society
