Royal Insurance was founded in 1845, it later acquired Liverpool & London and Globe Insurance Company in 1919. After a merger between Royal Insurance and Sun Alliance in 1996 the combined companies became known as Royal Sun Alliance Insurance.

Two diagrams/ engine perfomance tests recorded for Engines One and Two at Elm Mill, Burnley, 16 July 1948. The diagrams record pressure, revs per minute, coal consumed, hours worked and temperatures.
