- Scope and ContentThe collection comprises papers illustrating Taylor's involvement with medical jurisprudence, with particular focus on poisons. It contains material from Taylor’s time at Guy’s Hospital, where he was both a student and a lecturer, including correspondence, articles and reports relating to court cases for which he was summoned as an expert witness, letters relating to arsenic within wallpaper and associated wallpaper samples, his publication 'Elements of Medical Jurisprudence', obituaries, and ephemera.

- Archival historyThe collection originates from Taylor’s estate at Thorne Court, near Bury St Edmunds. It was auctioned on 5 October 1918. The collection is part of a larger acquisition purchased by the Science Museum Group that includes material on Taylor's experiments in photography, deposited with the Science and Media Museum, Bradford, and a collection of drawings and illustrations which was integrated into the Science Museum Art Collection.
