Monsanto is a global agriculture company developing products and tools for farmers around the world grow crops using biotechnology.
The history of today’s Monsanto, an agricultural company, began in 2002 after it was divested from Pharmacia Corporation. Agricultural biotechnology was firmly established as the new company’s strategic research focus in an effort to improve farmer livelihoods by increasing their profitability through yield enhancements.
The company produces it's own brands of GM products including Yieldguard and Roundup Ready.
Scope and Content
Due to Merritt's long career with Monsanto this collection holds many materials used for promotion of Monsanto's products and GM research in general. This series holds the promotional materials for Monsanto and GM crops such as Roundup Ready and Yieldguard products.

Colin retired from Monsanto in February 2010, after 20 years in technical management, resulting in the role of Head of Public and Government Affairs, UK and Ireland.
He then spent 5 years consulting in sustainable and efficient production in bio-industries and is currently working with a local shale gas advisory group in North Yorkshire.
Merritt's career in applied agricultural research and communications spans 40 years, including 5 years at Cranfield University and 15 years at the AFRC Weed Research Organization, during which time he gained a PhD with the University of Bath.
In recent years Meritt has taken an active interest in biofuels and is a former Director of Northeast Biofuels Ltd. the Teesside industry cluster.
