- Scope and ContentThis collection is the extensive archive of British photographer Tony Ray-Jones. The archive primarily comprises a substantial amount of photographic materials relating to Ray-Jones' photography, including approximately 700 black and white photographic prints, 1700 35mm rolls of film, 2700 black and white contact sheets, one portfolio containing 10 prints and 600 boxes of Ektachrome and/or Kodachrome transparencies. Photography projects documented in the archive include A Day Off, Old English Customs, Extremists and Gurus. The archive includes photography taken during Ray-Jones' time living in both the UK and the USA. As well as the photographic materials in the archive, the collection includes notebooks, publications owned by and featuring Tony Ray-Jones, press cuttings, exhibition catalogues and a small amount of photographic equipment.

- Archival historyThis archive was acquired by the National Science and Media Museum in 1993. It was transferred directly from Anna Ray Jones, daughter of Tony Ray Jones, with whom it had been previously in custody.
