    The Elizabeth Mason Archive relates to Mason's career as medical photographer in London in the 1950s-1960s. The archive contains photographic slides of diseased organs, photographic prints of patients and medical conditions and a manuscript monograph on the endocrine system. The archive also holds Mason's certificates and a personal album containing photographs of hospital staff and correspondence from colleagues.

    This collection was gifted to London Metropolitan Archives by Elizabeth Mason’s niece Roseline Turner on 3rd March 2016 and transferred to NSMM, with the involvement of the original donor, in November 2017.

    Access is given in accordance with the NSMM access policy. This archive contains medical photography termed as medical records and some other personal data. These parts of the collection are closed. Some material from this collection is available to researchers through the museum’s Insight facility.
  • System of arrangement
    In general the original order of this archive has been maintained. MAS/3/1 mounted prints were originally packaged with MAS/4 Certificates (oversize - Mimsty number 2017-5349). The separate folder of certificates (Mimsy number 2017-5350/1) was originally stored with MAS/3/2 loose photographic prints.
