  • Scope and Content
This archive contains correspondence, documents, technical drawings and publications relating to the television electronic disc (TeD) developed by Decca Radio & Television, based in Bradford, and Telefunken. This relationship was pre-established and termed ‘Teldec’. The 8-inch-diameter (200 mm) flexible foil discs, which spun at 1,500 rpm on a cushion of air and recorded 5 minutes of content, could be played on a Television receiver. This collection documents the development and presentation of television electronic discs and also includes some examples of the discs themselves. The collection also contains the report for the international press conference held at the world premiere of the video disk on 24 June 1970 at Telefunken in Berlin.

A promotional brochure was moved into series /2. The original branded Decca video discs files that the archive arrived in are retained with the materials.
