This collection contains approximately 300 film distributors' critique and information sheets as originally produced by McCarthy Ltd in the mid 20th century. The sheets each give a candid appraisal and synopsis of each film. These were designed to give cinema owners the ability to judge the appeal and audience suitability of a particular title. The collection covers films made by the following companies: Rank Film Distributors, G.F.D, M.G.M, Disney, Eros, Golden Era, Gala, Gr. National, Gerrard, Hillcrest, Intercontinental, M.R.A, Mayfair, Miracle, Mondial, Monarch, New Realm, Orb, Panton, Planet, Renown, Regal, Regent, S.F. Films, United F. Corporation, Warner Pathe, Anglo-Amal, Butcher, Republic, A. B. F. D, Adelphi, Apex, Archway, Astral, Astarte, A. Balch, C. F. F., Compton-Cambo, Curson, Contemporary, C. R. The collection was donated to the National Science and Media Museum in 1997.

The collection is organised into series' for each film studio and production company, which reflects the original order of the collection.
