    This archive contains business records relating to the development of cinema company Hibbert's Pictures Ltd, as well as its associated companies in Bradford, Huddersfield and Northampton. It covers the development of the company in the early 20th century, through its peak in the 1930s and 1940s and its decline in the 1960s and early 1970s. There are records relating to Lyceum Cinema Co. Ltd, Victoria Palace, Temperence Hall Cinema Ltd, Gloucester Cinemas Limited, Towers Hall Cinema and Tennyson Cinema. Materials in the collection include minute books, trading accounts and balance sheets, share transfer certificates and shareholder information. There is also correspondence relating to the daily running of the above cinemas and companies, as well as correspondence with Bradford Corporation. There are architectural drawings of Victoria Palace, Tennyson Cinema and Towers Hall Cinema. The collection also includes two booking diaries for Towers Hall Cinema. There is also a wooden box containing a number of cinema projection lenses.

  • Physical description
    The condition of this collection is fair. The collection is largely paper-based, mainly stored in the original files, which should be replaced. The projector lenses are currently stored in a wooden box.
