Kilmarnock Engineering Company Limited Biography Biography
In 1919, the company acquired the Britannia Engineering Works, Kilmarnock of Dick, Kerr & Co Ltd. While some locomotive activity continued, it is not clear for how long and there is no evidence of any continuing relationship with the English Electric Co Ltd. The site name remains as a car showroom/ retail area, adjacent to the Andrew Barclay works, now Wabtec.

Scottish Oils Ltd, oil manufacturers Biography Biography
Scottish Oils Ltd was established by Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) in 1919 by the merger of five Scottish oil shale companies, Young's Paraffin Light & Mineral Oil Company, Broxburn Oil Company, Pumpherston Shale Oil Company, Oakbank Oil Company, and James Ross & Company Philpstoun Oil Works. Shale oil production in Scotland ceased in the early 1960s and there was an unsuccessful attempt to revive it in 1973. The company was wound up on the 15th December 2010.
Rhodesia Railways Biography Biography
In 1947 the Rhodesian Government took over the private company Rhodesia Railways Co. Ltd. which owned the whole Zimbabwe and Zambia railway system, and in 1949 became known as the public body Rhodesia Railways. In 1967 Zambia Railways took over the lines north of Victoria Falls Bridge, known as Northern Rhodesia, and Rhodesia Railways continued to maintain the lines south of the bridge in Southern Rhodesia. In 1979 Rhodesia Railways became Zimbabwe Rhodesia Railways.
