    A collection of black and white photographic prints, twenty-five microfiche of engineering drawings, a booklet of forty-six small scale Beyer-Garratt copy general arrangement drawings, and three trade literature books about the various kinds of wire braiding machinery manufactured by B & F Carter & Co Ltd. The collection also includes W. R. Ellis's Beyer, Peacock & Co. Engineering Pupils Scheme booklet and two of Mr Ellis's blacksmith apprentice day books.

    The collection is in a good condition.
  • Archival history
    The donor, Mr Ellis, was an employee at Beyer, Peacock & Co. starting as an engineering pupil on the company scheme before becoming an apprentice blacksmith. The donor's father was the foreman of the smithy and forge. Maurice Heery was also an employee at Beyer, Peacock & Co. before leaving to work in Africa for the East African Railways and Harbour Board where he inspected and tested engines on the railways. Mr Heery was an acquaintance of Mr Ellis and asked the donor to donate his documentation on his behalf.
