The London Nameplate Manufacturing Company was founded in 1810 by Thomas Malby. The business was well-known as a cartographer's and globe maker, carrying out work for the Admiralty. Initially all nameplates made by the company were created by hand, but the company took advantage of developments in photographic and etching techinques in the 19th century to increase production.
The nameplate side of the business moved in 1909 to East Finchley and then to Clerkenwell, where greater space allowed them to expand. During the 1930s the company's Brighton factory also grew, and by the Second World War, they were manufacturing cockpit dials, bomb aiming devices, plotting equipment, and navigational instruments. As of 2023, London Nameplate Manufacturing Company remained active.

Born in 1914, Sir Henry Langton worked as teacher and in the police in the 1930s. He joined the armed forces in 1941, as soon as policemen were legally allowed to do so, and became a bomber pilot. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1943 and received a Distinguished Service Order in 1945.
Postwar, Langton owned and managed a stud farm in Wiltshire. In 1955 Langton was elected to Wiltshire County Council. He served as Chairman of its Finance Committee from 1959 to 1968, then as Chairman of the Council from 1968 – 1973. He was knighted in 1964. Outside of his political career, Langton also served as chair of the committee of the Victoria County History of Wiltshire.
Langton inherited Overtown House, Wroughton, in 1973 from a kinswoman and changed his name to Calley, which had been his mother’s family name, in line with the wishes expressed in the will.

A series of documents and photographs related to 1102715 Flight Sergeant George. F. Keith's war time service as an Air Gunner on Wellington and laterly Liberator bombers. The collection contains Air Gunners Log Book for the period 1944-1945.
