- Scope and ContentThe images show Bloom Street Power Station undergoing refurbishment work in 1997/8. The refurbishment work included removal of the original Ferranti generators, some of which are shown in the images. The images document the procedures followed in refurbishing an operating power station. The collection also includes images showing works to the National Grid in South Manchester.

- Archival historyThe photographs were taken on behalf of Norweb in 1997/8 by William Morris, a freelance photographer. The site of Bloom Street Power Station is now managed by JAB Ltd, of Warrington, who are the current owners of the documentation relating to the refurbishment of the power station, including the photographic prints. The images were selected by the Senior Curator to support content in the Revolution Manchester Gallery at MOSI and to support the Bloom Street pipe which is held in the collections.
