Dod Bros Engineers Biography Biography
Dod Brothers Engineers was a mechanical engineering company started by brothers Gerald and Oswald Dod. Gerald Dod had worked as a marine engineer, but moved into textile engineering when he established his own business. The firm was based in Beaver Works, 35 Little Peter Street, Gaythorn, Manchester and was active between 1920 to 1936, when the company went bankrupt following Gerald Dod's retirement due to ill-health.

Scope and Content
Photograph album illustrating heating and ventilation equipment, vacuum cleaning systems and pneumatic message systems manufactured and installed by Dod Brothers Engineers. The album consists of photographs of industrial installations undertaken by the company in various public buildings throughout the UK, but including Manchester Central Library, Stretford Town Hall and Stuart Street Power Station. The album also includes images of the interior of the Dod Brothers works.

Archival history
The donor is the great-niece of Gerald Dod, who co-founded the company with his brother. The album passed to the donor on the death of her great-aunt in 1999.
