- Scope and ContentA group of eight loose photographs of the engineering bays at George Richards & Co, Broadheath, dating from the 1950s and 1960s. As well as the engineering bays, the photographs show examples of universal milling, drilling and boring machines. The images illustrate both the manufacturing process of casting and assembling parts, the final assembled products, and apprentices learning the skills necessary for the work.

- Archival historyThe donor was an employee of H W Kearns & Co, working as the superintendent in charge of the Experimental & Development Department. He worked on the machines which created the test plates and sample turbine blade which also form part of this collection. The photographs were acquired by the donor during his employment with H W Kearns.
