- Scope and ContentRecords of the Friends of the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester and predecessor organisation the Liverpool Road Station Society and the Friends' Visual Records Group. The archive consists of around thirty boxes of photographs, slides, minutes, reports, newsletters and ephemera relating to Liverpool Road Station and the activities of the Friends. Much of the material dates from between the late 1970s and the 1990s, which includes later copies of Victorian original material.

- Physical descriptionThe archive is in a good condition, with a few individual items in a poor condition. The archive includes various sizes of photographic print, both in colour and black and white, as well as slides and glass negatives.

- Archival historyThe Friends Archive has been housed in the archive strongroom at the Museum since 1983, with responsibility for its care and maintenance being taken by the Honorary Archivist. With the reorganisation of the Friends in 2007, it was decided to present the entire archive as a gift to the Museum as a record of the support work the organisation has carried out.
