Collection of hand printed textiles including handkerchiefs from the Textile Chemistry Department of The University of Manchester and a printed view of the Manchester School of Technology's, Dyeing, Printing & Finishing Department building. Other samples consist of a sample of "Florence" from Sanderson Fabrics, other unknown heavy brocades and a sample of a small imitation carpet printed in Iran.
A note which came with the donation suggests the items were possibly prepared for an exhibition held at a meeting of the British Association in Manchester in 1962.

Arthur Sanderson founded his wallpaper company in 1881. He built a wallpaper factory in Chiswick and produced a range of wallpapers. He was joined by his three sons and renamed the company Arthur Sanderson & Sons. The company added production of printed fabrics to its output in 1919, when a second factory was opened at Uxbridge.
The company bought the design archives and wallpaper stock of Morris & Co in 1940. The two brands are now part of the Style Library.
- Manchester UniversityBiographyBiography
Manchester University was the popular name used for the Victoria University of Manchester, constituted in 1904.
Manchester University emerged from the federal Victoria University, which included colleges in Liverpool and Leeds alongside Owens College in Manchester. In 1900 the colleges of the Victoria University separated and in 1904 Owens College was reconstituted as the Victoria University of Manchester, though it was often known simply known as Manchester University, or Owens.
In 2004 Manchester University, under its formal name the Victoria University of Manchester, combined with the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) to become known as The University of Manchester.
