Donor preserved first volume of a series of 12 held in the Electric Light Design office at Mather & Platt in 1966. The Company was destroying the volumes. The donor supplied the following information based on his memory. Mather's bought drawings from Edison to make a dynamo and found that the machine didn't work. Edison's didn't work either and both sides went on to develop working dynamos from the original idea. Mather's did it through Dr Hopkinson of Manchester University. Information regarding notation in the volume can be found in the accession envelope.
