Kay, Fred Lawton Biography Biography
Born in 1899 in Harpurhey, Manchester. The family later, date unknown, moved to Northampton where he attended Northampton Grammar School. During his time at the school he joined the School Cadet Unit until he left school in 1915. After leaving school he joined the Royal Flying Corps, sometime either in late 1917 or early 1918 where he trained to be a Pilot.

Scope and Content
A small collection consisting of Discharge Certificate from School Cadet Unit; Pilot's Flying Log Book for the period May 1918 through to February 1919, includes entry for a crash during the landing of a Sopwith Camel F1F Dual Control Trainer registration "B7397" for which there is an accompanying photograph of Kay and his instructor standing next to the crashed aircraft and a black and white photographic portrait of him in dress uniform.
