The collection formed part of an exhibition held at Manchester Airport in the early 1980s and was transferred to the then Manchester Air & Space Museum in 1983, along with copy material used in the exhibition and other original archives. The collection was initially loaned to Manchester Airport by Mrs. Elsie Moseley, the sister of Sir Jack Alcock. Mrs. Patricia Moseley, the wife of Mr. Eric Moseley, one of Mrs. Elsie Moseley's sons, then loaned the collection to the Greater Manchester Museum of Science & Industry (now MSI). The loan was subsequently converted to a donation by Mr. J. A. Moseley, the brother of Mr. Eric Moseley.
