Inorganic chemistry professor born in 1903 and educated at Hasting Grammar School and then Imperial College. He graduated in 1923, and was awarded his PhD in 1925. He went on to become Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Cambridge University from 1945-1970 and was also President of the Chemical Society 1960-1962 and President of the Royal Institute of Chemistry 1963-1965. Emeleus died on 2 December 1993.
