  • Scope and Content
Plate 11 of a series of aquatints of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, titled 'Near Liverpool, looking towards Manchester'. It was engraved by Henry Pyall, after an image by Thomas Talbot Bury, and was published by R. Ackermann, London, 1831. "I am much disappointed in the view." Charles Young, 1835. The railway was cut into the ground in many places. This kept it fairly flat so the trains did not have to struggle up hills. However, it meant that some passengers, like Charles Young, complained about the view being boring.
