- Scope and ContentCollection of North West Electricity Board records related to the designing, planning and subsequent erection of overhead power lines. There are documents relating to both High Voltage lines requiring pylons and Low Voltage lines useing wooden poles. The records of the design stage include standards required and used during the designing and testing of pylons and the poles. There are records for the supplying of electricity in both the North West covered by NORWEB and for the Yorkshire area covered by Yorkshire Electricity Board. The collection includes the original Patent Application and paperwork for a piece of equipment designed by George Megson for use when the line was live. The patent was then transfered to Yorkshire Electricity Board, for which Megson was working.
