When FCL ceased trading in 1992, Gretton's company with New Order, Gainwest Ltd, took over the running of the Haçienda night club and became responsible for its records. In 1998, when Gainwest Ltd was vacating its offices in Knott Mill, Rob Gretton contacted the Museum to offer his archive.

  • System of arrangement
As far as possible the arrangement reflects the style of management within Factory Communications. The Company did not keep many records [in the traditional sense] and some series of records are seriously depleted, if not missing altogether. This is due in part to the personal ownership of records by individuals within the Company.
