  • Physical description
    The majority of drawings are wax linen copies. There are also a large number of drawings on cartridge paper, most of which have been mounted on linen backing and are coloured. These are indicated in the catalogue as ‘MP’ and may not be copied using scanning or photocopying techniques. They are boxed separately from the wax linen drawings.

  • Finding aids
    The North London Railway Historical Society originally compiled a list of this collection. A further listing was completed using Mr Hanson’s list as a start point, the drawings were sequentially sorted according to the NLR classification and boxed accordingly. The present catalogue derives from this second listing.

  • System of arrangement
    The original order of the collection is not known, but has been based on internal evidence of an alphanumerical sequence of drawing identifiers. This classification is derived from one of the items in the collection (Miscellaneous drawing 03). Where drawings from the collection do not show evidence of any such identifier they have been listed in a separate table of miscellaneous and un-numbered drawings.
