QUIT Biography Biography
Established in 1926 as the National Society of Non Smokers, the group became known as QUIT following attainment of charitable status in 1983. Throughout its existence, the group engaged in a range of campaigns against smoking, and provided guidance and support for people wishing to stop smoking. The group dissolved in 2018.

Scope and Content
A folder of correspondence between various members of the National Society of Non Smokers and T.W. Hurst, the society's treasurer. The majority of the material relates to efforts to have bus companies introduce a ban on smoking on buses, especially on single-decker buses. Also included is some material relating to an essay writing competition organised by the society and some correspondence relating to its financial operation.
