- Scope and ContentThe collection comprises six series. Series 1 comprises 6 folders and 3 handwritten volumes of material relating to legal and financial matters [1797-1900]; series 2 comprises 4 folders of material relating to employees, brewers and possibly to clients also [1854-1898]; series 3 comprises 3 folders of material relating to the lease and tenancy of properties in Tooley Street, The Strand, Tulse Hill and Dulwich [1870-1913]; series 4 comprises 14 folders of material relating to patents and products, including John Dring’s patent specification for a tap, and correspondence with Inland Revenue and with the Patent Office [1790-1937]; series 5 comprises 9 folders of miscellaneous material including tradecards, photographs, a brief history of the company and an inventory of items donated to the Science Museum in London (1860-c.1930). Series 6 comprises 30 published volumes which have been transferred to the Science Museum Library (c.1790-1945).
