- Archival historyRepresentatives of Sovereign Chemicals Ltd, Barrow-in-Furness, discovered the register when clearing out premises in a warehouse in Birmingham. A search of records held at Birmingham City Archives has revealed no information about a branch of Denton and Jutsum in Birmingham in the 1850s, nor of any other company described as ‘paint manufacturers’. There is no information recorded on the register, other than a business card linking it to Denton and Jutsum. It is not therefore certain that the register belonged to this company.
