    This small archive contains a small amount of material relating to the life, career and murder trial of Eadweard Muybridge. The collection was compiled and created by Janet Leigh, the daughter of the lawyer who defended Muybridge during his murder trial in 1875. The files contain correspondence, character sketches and press cuttings relating both to Muybridge's trial and also to his life and career.

    The condition of this collection is fair. The press cuttings are in worse condition and are often yellowed and brittle. There are a number of rusting staples which should be replaced at a later date.
