  • Scope and Content
Small collection of volumes containing printed examples of advertisements taken from various national and international publications. The guard books contain advertising and marketing material for Tootals' own brand textiles. Among them Tobralco and Tootress marketed as an easy wear and home washable cotton fabric. The fabric was marketed as available in both readymade garments and as lengths of fabric for sewing at home. As well as marketing cotton Tootal developed made man fabrics with crease resisting properties under the name of ROBIA (Revival of British Industrial Art) and Tootress. As well as recording advertisements placed with various newspapers and magazines in the United Kingdom, there are examples for Europe, Australia and New Zealand. There are also specific guard books for the South African, Uruguayan and Malaysian markets, along with several pages from an unknown scrapbook containing articles taken from magazines about dogs and samples of printed coloured pattern designs possibly for wallpaper[?].
