  • Archival history
The archive was created and maintained by Ian Munro while employed at Daresbury Laboratories. On his retirement, he removed the archive to his home. At the time that the Museum of Science and Industry acquired the SRS archive, Ian Munro sorted through his papers and put together this collection, to supplement the SRS archive. The collection includes the first notebook on synchrotron radiation in the UK, which relates to the Synchrotron Radiation Facility at Daresbury Laboratroy, the precursor to the Synchrotron Radiation Source. The collection also includes correspondence between Ian Munro and Government departments relating to the establishment and funding of NINA, the SRF and the SRS. It provides background and context to the establishment of the SRS.
