Therefore each constituent company has been identified as a sub fonds, within which the records are divided into series reflecting the nature of the record. The sub fonds are identified as follows, NBL/1 Clyde Locomotive Company/Sharp Stewart Locomotive Company, NBL/2 Neilson & Company/Neilson Reid & Company, NBL/3 Dubs & Company and NBL/4 North British Locomotive Company.
